I meet every Wed. nite with a group of men that I have become very close to over the past few months. We get real with ourselves and each other and it has become so important to me to have this “safe place”.

One of the things we heard last week was a reading in which this statement was made: “Accept that you are accepted.” I love that! God tells us that in Christ we are accepted in the beloved… we couldn’t do enough to earn it, can’t do enough to maintain our status in God, it’s by grace through faith in Christ!

That’s a wonderful gift and it smacks my pride right in the face! I want to earn it by my diligence, discipline, devotion (not that any of those things are bad), but who am I to think that I could be the first human ever to earn God’s approval and acceptance?

So, I want to accept that I am accepted.

I just wrote a song a few months ago that I believe says it well:

This orphan has become a son of royalty!

When living isn’t easy and
The pressure starts to rise
Old memories are luring me to a prison made of lies
But just before they lock the door, and faith dissolves to fear

Welcome to March!

This month’s free download Song of the Month is called “Holy Spirit Living Water” from the Worship Interactive “live” recording. It is a singable, faith-filled declaration of the life giving power of God. You can download the MP3 and songsheet from the music store.

After I had written the song, I heard Bob Sorge speak on “Following the River: A Vision of Corporate Worship” at the Worship Institute in Dallas TX. I led the congregation and worship team in the song after he spoke, and it was a wonderful unrehearsed moment in God’s Presence. Of course, we know the Holy Spirit planned it.  It was powerful!
