September Evening

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

I took a walk this beautiful pre-autumn evening…

The twilight sky was dark blue with a fading pink-purple curtain falling slowly over the last day of September. Even through my ipod, I could hear the tree frogs and the crickets chirping their farewells to summer.

It has happened so fast… again.

It reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song: “The Circle Game”:

Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
Folks say “Take your time, it won’t be long now
‘Til you drag your feet to slow the circles down

I am sad and yet at peace with the brevity of this life. I have much to be thankful for- a beautiful woman who is my life partner, three godly, alive, sweet, sensitive daughters.
A son-in-law who loves God, life, and my daughter.

Rita and I have people who love us, who love the music and ministry that the Lord has given through us…We have friends that are safe places- I must confess that I have been blessed.

Godrest and Godspeed,
David Baroni

Hear These Songs Again… For the First Time

Music has a built-in gift of memory. When we hear certain songs, we remember where we were the first time we heard them.

New music, inspired by the Holy SpiritÂ

Pulse
I have tried to keep the sadness at bay
Until I let it in
Like a long lost friend
Like the waves that break
With a healing ache
I let it out again

Jazz

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Just listened again to the Bill Evans trio. Good music, good jazz.

Good jazz reminds me of the Kingdom of God. Incredible freedom, creativity, hope, sense community and a hint of the intangible, a glimpse of the Invisible.Â
