Fireside Chat With The Fathers

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Rita and I just returned from 3 days at “The Cove”, The Billy Graham Training Center in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Asheville N. Carolina. We were guests of Dave Beuhring’s Lionshare Ministries to witness the historic “Fireside Chat With the Fathers of the Faith.”

How wonderful to see and hear men of God such as Winky Pratney, Jack Hayford, John Perkins, Lloyd Ogilvie, YWAM founder Loren Cunningham and Robert Schuller share their combined 350 years of ministry and life experience.

I will never forget Winky (whom we met at Garden Valley Artist Retreats in the late 80’s) sharing that he literally died last year of septic shock in Korea. At the moment of death he said he didn’t see heaven or hell or even Jesus, but he said he “saw the world through Jesus’ eyes.” He said that he was looking through Jesus’ eyes and Jesus was looking out through his.

There were several powerful moments over the few days and I am grateful to be a part of that gathering. Be watching for the DVD set to be released around December.

Rita and I are thankful for the many encounters we have been privileged to have with outstanding leaders throughout the world. Some well-know and some unknown except by God and people in their native lands- yet many have had a lasting impact in our lives.

Next week it is on to the Worship Institute in Dallas. Be praying for that gathering.

Worship Institute Master Clinics!

Monday, May 19th, 2008

The Worship Institute will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Hyatt this year from June 30-July 3rd. To register go to www.worshipinstitute.com

I will be conducting 2 Master classes, each 3 hours in length on Monday, June 30.

One Master Class is “The Prophetic Song”-The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory

Have you ever heard a sunrise? God makes the sunrise and sunset shout for joy. God speaks in many ways… “Can you hear me now?”… Good!
Come explore the power of song, the incredible, heavenly gift of music. Bring your adventurous heart and your questions.
What is prophetic song? When is it appropriate in a worship service? Does it have to be spontaneous to be prophetic? What in the world is God up?
There’s a song in the silence, a dance in the stillness.
By God’s enablement, I will give a biblical, sound foundation for the sounds of the Spirit of God being released in these exciting, challenging times.
Be refreshed and inspired as we learn more about His Kingdom, Power and Glory expressed through the Prophetic Song in and through us!

The other Master Class is “Keyboard Improvisation in Worship”.

Are certain chords “prophetic”? Why or why not? Can the sounds of heaven be released through the keyboard? How can we tap into the supernatural power of the Word and Spirit of God in our playing? We will examine melodies, voicings, inversions, sounds, “themes”, and rhythmic patterns. Also we will explore “the flow”, motives, discernment, following the Spirit of God and the Pastor and worship leader. We will look at playing solo, playing soloes, and playing with a worship team. Be inspired creatively, encouraged musically and refreshed spiritually!

Would love to see you in Dallas! You can register seperately for the Master Classes by clicking here:

New CD!! Road Musings

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday in Franklin TN. Surrounded by my wife and 2 of our 3 daughters and my son-in-law, other family and friends, leading worship at our church, THE GATE- my favorite basketball team won. (Go Vols). It was a great day to bask in the goodness and love of God.

I am so excited to announce the release of my brand new FingerPaintings Instrumental CD called “DREAM”. Check it out at the online store.
This is my first new FingerPaintings instrumental in almost 3 years! You will want to add this CD to your collection.

From the liner notes:
Music has the potential to inspire, to soothe, to cause the listener to hear past the music into the realm of the invisible.These spontaneously inspired compositions are the intake and outflow of the creative imagination. Like waves on a beach, these songs wash in and leave something of themselves in the heart of the listener. Dare to be still, dare to use your God-given imagination… dare to dream!

The Songs:

* Softly Comes the Morning
* The Dreamer
* Yearning
* Mountain Spring
* Spiritdance
* Sweet Mystery
* Innerplay
* When Day Is Done (A Lullaby)

God Bless You! Tell your friends!

Also, look for our teaching series to be ready to download any day now and the Song of the Month for April is “On Earth As It Is In Heaven” from the “This is the Mission” CD.

I am in the Philly airport en route to Latvia for the “Return” Worship conference in Riga. Then on to Manchester/ Chorley England for a worship encounter at Living Waters Church in Chorley. Then Rita and I go to Athens Greece to see our daughter CELESTE!!

God is good!
Cheers,

Step Out Of The Boat!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Rita and I are having a great time here in Kuwait. Here are some of the thoughts that I shared in one of the meetings earlier today:

Two months after I resigned the only salary paying job I ever had as an adult, I found myself in a worship conference in Singapore as a “musicianary”. I told the attendees that I had always hoped for the right circumstances to be in my life so that I could just coast for the rest of my life.

I said that if I could just have the right financial circumstances or an encounter with God on a mountaintop that would make me forever peaceful, maybe that would bring contentment at last.
Then I told them that I knew that there wasn’t such an encounter or set of circumstances.

Why?

Because then I would trust in the encounter or circumstances and peace, a resting place, can only be found in a relationship with a Person… His Name is Jesus!
(By the way, God provided for us and our family wonderfully at that Christmas-time trip to Singapore!)

Jesus said “Man shall not live by bread (natural circumstances or provision-my paraphrase) alone- but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

In this day of the rapid proliferation of (mostly) useless words, it is easy for us to forget that words have power. God’s Word is what created the universe and holds it together!

In the encounter on the stormy sea when the Lord came walking upon the waves toward the disciples and they didn’t believe it was flesh and blood Jesus, but a “ghost”; Peter asked Jesus, “If it is really you, Master, then bid me come to you on the water.”

Jesus said one word: “Come!”

Peter did. He was walking on the water, but deeper, and much more solid than that, he was walking on a word… God’s Word!

Now the just shall live by faith… not by what we see or feel or what our circumstances or our natural minds tell us. The invisible things of the Kingdom of God are more real than the temporary, visible things. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Sometimes the safest place to be in the storm is not the boat, but out of the boat on a word from God! Other times, when we wake the Lord up and ask Him if he cares about the storm raging all around us, we might just hear Him say “It’s under control, why don’t you curl up here beside me and take a nap!”

Godrest and Godspeed,
David B.

P.S. Look for our Freshword Teaching Series to be available any day now as downloadable MP3s at our online store!

Proud Papa III: A Dance War Winner!

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Rita, Charity and I all returned from L.A. on Tuesday and are well.

It has been quite a fun ride to watch the show and, while we were
surprised and sad that Team Bruno lost the first vote and sent Charity home, we were so grateful and heartened by the obvious affection that almost everyone behind the scenes had for Charity.

Rita and I heard from choreographers, producers, members of both
teams,etc. just how much Charity contributed to the show and, more importantly, to their lives.
We have a great peace that Charity was on the show as long as Father wanted her to be, and that His Purposes will continue to unfold in her life.

Mariel (from Team Carrie Ann) told us that Charity had helped her greatly with her dancing from day one. Elizabeth and Kelsey were teary-eyed at losing (temporarily) one of their new best friends. I could go on with the testimonials, but suffice it to say that knowing how much these folks enjoyed getting to know our daughter, and the obvious respect for her heart and dancing and vocal gifts made us even prouder than we already are. (And that took some doing:)

So many of you sent kind emails, phone calls etc. Rita and I appreciate it so much!
You may want to go on the ABC site to see “Confessional 4″ when it is posted. I haven’t seen it but I have a feeling these young performers will honor Charity on it.
By the way, Charity says to keep voting for her friends on Team Bruno!

Dance War “Up To Speed”

Friday, January 18th, 2008

I just got an email from a friend who wanted to know what is going on with our daughter Charity.

Here is an excerpt from my email to her and below that is another update. (International friends, thank you for your understanding about this exciting time in the life of our family!)
We are grateful that Celeste and her friend Kirsten are safely back in Greece!
Godrest and Godspeed,
David B.

Charity made a Nashville audition before Thanksgiving to be on a sequel show to “Danceing with The Stars” called “Dance War- Bruno vs. Carrie Ann” on ABC. (Bruno and Carrie Ann were/are two of the judges from the ABC show Dancing With the Stars).

Her successful audition paved the way for her to go to LA to further audition (on the first show Jan 7) to make it from the top 30 to the top 14. She did and last week was chosen for Team Bruno. (6 on a team- two more went home at the end of last Monday’s show.)
The show lasts for 4 more weeks on ABC at 7 P:M Central on Monday night. The teams SING and dance (not just dance- which is way cool to me), then America votes for their favorite team. The losing team’s coach (Bruno or Carrie Ann) then has to select a member of their team to go home. The last ones form a team and get to do all kinds of neat stuff (as yet to be revealed or maybe even determined.)

This is a fantastic opportunity for Charity. American viewers can watch the shows (2 so far) online at www.abc.com click on Dance War, then watch video. Charity’s profile is also online (scroll through the Dance War videos) and Rita and Bethany and me and our dog are on it too!

UPDATE ON DANCE WAR/ CHARITY:

Hello friends and family!

Charity called from L.A. yesterday and it was so good to hear from her.
She’s having a great time and is glad to be on Team Bruno- (though all
the cast members get along well.)
We were all gathered around the TV Monday night- Ben, Bethany, Celeste
(she returned to Greece the following day),
Rita and I were cheering Charity on. Even Dudley (our Cocker) got into
the act! Rita and Bethany are returning to L.A. for the next show and I
will be going out the week after that.

Please keep praying for strength and health. They have 12 hour days
rehearsing, etc.
This Monday night begins the voting. You can vote by phone or online- up
to 5 times per line.
If you have questions about the voting you can enter the below address in
your browser:
http://abc.go.com/primetime/dancewar/index?pn=votefaq

One more thing: For you message-board savvy folks. Charity requested that
you post on www.abc.com/ Dance War
some encouragement for Team Bruno. She sends her love and appreciation to
all of you!

Rita and I are grateful for all the emails and calls we have received. We
are enjoying the ride and enjoying a great 2008!

David Baroni

Chattanooga “Lookout Mountain”

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Leading worship and ministering tomorrow morning at New Covenant Fellowship with Pastor Bernie Miller.

This is a beautiful autumn day in one of the prettiest places in the world- the Lookout Mountain area of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

I so enjoyed my trip to Nigeria. The benefit concert for the Arrows of God Orphanage was a success, I also was blessed to be with Pastor Francis and the congregation at NuStreams Fellowship in Ibadan, and Rose of Sharon and Christ Chapel churches in Lagos.

It was a blessing to participate in a live recording with Fountain of Praise and my friend Wale Adenuga. A wonderful worshipping woman of God named Chinelo and I recorded the song “I Rest In You (Not Afraid)”. Look for that recording at www.fopmusic.com or here on this web-site.

I am excited that people are ordering my book “The Jazz Preacher”. Also, the international web orders for CDs are increasing.

So it’s a beautiful day and God is good. I am grateful to be alive and grateful for the power of gratitude!

Godrest and Godspeed,
David Baroni
